If you want to get involved in Fort Lauderdale look at the opportunities below!

Only 15 DAYS TO GO !!!  Over 40 community groups have stepped up to do a service project on Saturday, October 29. They will build and decorate Little Free Libraries, paint a mural panel, landscape an elderly’s home, clean the beach, a street or a neighborhood.  Pick a project at a location close to you, lend a hand to our community leaders, and make a difference.  Please review the list below for our great opportunities.

A little house keeping regarding our outdoor activities.  Please be careful with the heat as well as the resurgence of COVID. Participate responsibly, especially if you have allergies or special needs. Proper attire is closed toed shoes, a t-shirt and comfortable clothing – things you do not mind getting dirty! It is recommended all volunteers wear a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent, plus bring their own water and snacks. Stay hydrated! Volunteers should still practice social distancing and are encouraged to bring their own face mask.

Here are still some of our regularly scheduled events:

Oct 15  9:30 am – 11:30 am, Library Restocking |  RSVP required

Every Child Reads – Nothing Else Matters!  Please join Action For Literacy team leaders to restock 5-10 of Fort Lauderdale’s 112 Little Free Libraries. Each year caring volunteers collect and distribute over 35,000 age-appropriate books to ensure that every child learns to read at the end of third grade. The team will meet around 9:30 am at the city hall parking garage, 100 N.. Andrews Ave.  Volunteers are asked to use their personal vehicles to refill 5-10 libraries along a predetermined route. For more information contact team leader Jorg Hruschka at [email protected]

Oct 22  8:15 am – 10:15 am, Bill Keith Preserve Park – Shoreline Cleanup  | RSVP required

Every year hundreds of volunteers remove over four to five tons of trash from the Fort Lauderdale waterways.  Anything from tires, fire extinguishers to the kitchen sink.  Help us remove trash and make new friends. The team will meet at Bill Keith Preserve Park, 1720 SW 17th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 every third Saturday.  If you own a kayak or paddle board, please bring it. For more information contact team leader Kelly Charles at 786.469.9594 or [email protected]
